James Arthur William Schuman, 81, of North Vancouver British Columbia, passed away on March 22, 2024 after a lengthy battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
Born to Bud and Meg on December 4, 1942, Jim grew up in in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. After Jim graduated from Booth High School in 1960, he went on to study Law at the University of British Columbia.
Called to the Bar in 1968, Jim practiced Family Law in Vancouver for over 50 years. Jim mentored many young lawyers and emphasized civility in the practice. Jim was appointed Queen's Counsel in November 2010. Jim retired in 2021.
Jim was an avid curler who gave significant time to his cherished Richmond Curling Club, the Pacific Coast Curling Association and Curl BC. Jim's leadership of and involvement in the Pacific International Cup each year was a passion he cherished. He was an inspiring leader and an unselfish giver.
Jim is survived by his children Leanne and Jim, his steps-sons Craig (Clemmie) and Quinn, his grandchildren Lucy, Mandy and Peter, and his wife Harriet.
